Kathmandu, Dec 3 (RSS): Today's meeting of the Constitutional Council has presented the name list of two senior justices recommended by the Judicial Council for Chief Justice.
Dipak Raj Joshi and Cholendra Shamsher JBR have been recommended for Chief Justice, said Chairperson of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina. Sitting Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra is retiring on January 2 after completing the age bar of 58.
Joshi and JBR duo has previously completed three years of their stint at the Supreme Court.
There is a provision that the Council has to recommend names for new Chief Justice a month in advance. The recommended names are sent to the parliamentary hearing committee under the Federal Parliament for endorsement.
The meeting was attended also by Chief Justice Mishra and Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara. The Council is scheduled to meet next on December 8.
