Newly appointed Nepal National Football Team coach Abdullah Almutairi is currently on limelight after the player selection process and a bold media statement. He seems to be focused on giving a new direction to Nepali football. During the press conference held on 20th May, he showed dissatisfaction towards Nepali media. He had made huge change in national player selection and has left out some well known faces like Ravi Pashwan, Rejin Dhimal, Bharat Khawas, Bikesh Kuthu etc .
During the conference one of the reported asked that why experienced & known player were left out and why you made a huge change in squad also the NSL winning team Kathmandu Rayzors many players were ignored. Coach replied that" I am very sad. I am very upset with your feedback. You must support players, officials. Don’t support me. Don’t create the problem between the players. Don't compare the players"
Further he clarified that

I don’t
have any problem with Kathmandu Rayzors. Do you want to know why I didn’t
choose anyone from Kathmandu.
Goalie Bikesh is very tired. Because he
is tired, he can make mistakes. Tej Tamang has broken finger. What
should i tell his family if anything happens to him. Is FIFA world cup
qualifiers really important? Why should we risk one player when we get
nothing from there.
Sanjok Rai has problem in ligament. He can’t touch
the ball before one month.
Regarding Bishwas Shrestha. Attitude
problem. He misbehaved the coach. If you make mistake, you have to pay
the price. If you have attitude you won't play under me. You must play
for Nepal. You represent Nepal. I don’t care about your age. If you
don’t have good attitude you won’t play for Nepal.

One of the fans said that 'In previous times Even if player was out of form he used to be selected for National teams just because he was popular and he had scored goals in few games which used to cost a lot for Nepali football, but now the decision taken by coach is very good let the deserving players represent Nepal".Most of the Nepali football fans are supporting the decision taken by coach Abdullah Almutairi.
